Where was I?

Ah yes, living in Oklahoma most of my life. You know, most people would think that living in Oklahoma was boring and dull, but anyone who has been here for a long time knows that isn't the truth. At times you don't 'keep up with the Joneses' like other states, but we aren't backwater hicks either. The was commerce moves in the United States is kind of weird. The East and West Coasts have new products on the market before any other states do. And there is two main reasons for this. 1. New markets, for any new product - and we're talking anything here, usually starts in  the East Coast and moves West - New York to L.A. Not the other way around. But there are exceptions - for example, computer software usually starts in California and moves East. Depends on what is coming out and what is moving which way. Known as Demographics. Each area of the country, no joke, moves at its own pace and the rest of the country just has to try and keep up. and 2. Transportation hubs in the United States are positioned mainly on the coast areas of the country. So therefore freight moves usually East-West, and West-East. The rest of the country gets colored in as they come along. Thats why sometimes in the New York the Apple iPad can come out on a Friday, and 4 to 7 months later it will end up in Kansas and Oklahoma and Missouri.
I know that may seem like a bunch of gobbledygook, but thats usually the way it works out. I kind of figured that one out on my own after being a truck driver for most of my life. And you would have thought I'd not become one of those trucker dudes after knowing my Father died doing it. (Mother was a wreck after she found out thats what I was going to do.)
Anyways, at times in my life I thought Oklahoma was the backwater of the world, but as the years rolled by, I realized the only thing slowing down was me. And friends did a lot to help me grow along the way.
Friends. I have a few of them. Two of them have been with me most of my life. And One, Charles, just as well be another brother to me. As he told someone once, "We're brothers in everything but blood." I don't think I could have made it without him.
The other, I like to call her 'Tramp." Or Randi, when I'm not made at her. She's the one in my life who kicks me when I need it, and yells at me when I need it, and holds my hand when I need that too. She's my friend, confidant, and all around best buddy.
Charles and Randi know me best. I've told them things my family doesn't even know. God I hope that Bitch keeps her mouth shut. I could get in a lot of trouble. (And no, Randi, no one believes it was me on that table doing a strip tease!)
We've had a lot of good times over the years. And a few that weren't so good. But that's life. I can honestly say that I love them both, and would do anything I can for them. I'm very lucky.
That's not to say I don't have other friends. I've had the opportunity in my life to meet and make many friends. Some have gone away, (such is life, things change), and some have even died. That's life too I guess. But I know I'll meet them all in the end. Wherever that may be.
Moving on . . .

Newt's News - Where was I? . . .

Oh yes, now I remember. . . .
Being here (meaning Oklahoma) for nearly 40 years has taught me a good many things about growing up, and finally (At least my driver's license says I am) about being a grown up. The early years we'll get to later, but for right now I'll stick to the grown up part. The one thing I know I've learned after all these years is that I must have bad MoJo when it comes to women. I can't seem to get with the right one to save my 'Pee-Picken Heart'. What is it with women anyways, are they so insecure, or ruthless that they have to dump on me every chance they get? Or is it me in some way? The few women I've been with have all gotten rid of me. The longest lasting two years. The shortest, just a couple months. I know I'm not the sharpest tack in the box, but I'm no dummy either. I have two degrees - (AA, BA). Is this some kind of turnoff for women, or am I just missing the point along the way? Do I have such a crappy attitude on life that they seem to absorb all of my negative energy? Do I sleep too much? Not enough? Do I fart after I eat? (Don't answer that Charles, I'll get to you later on.) Am I such a crappy person without insight and forethought they just navigate away from me after a while? I would really like to know. I like to think of myself as outspoken (God help us all), likeable, loveable even, funny (just ask Charles), (He's popping up more ain't he?) Or is it that I can't play along to get along? (Not me folks, trust me on that one.) Women are the scourge of the World. Now, don't get the wrong impression when I say that. I love women. In all their myriad ways and means. Their beautiful skins, complexions, tones, shapes, flexibilities, and all around roundness and firmness. ME Love WOMEN. But they gonna be the death of me. Or, better yet, the reason I jump in the lake. Can someone answer that question for me? Am I so bad?
Now don't get me wrong, I know as well as the average Smoe on the street that men aren't the best animals in the jungle. Me one of them after all. They be after the SCORE. At least most of them I've been around. But to tell you the truth, I've never felt that way. I always thought to be with someone you truly love, you need to honor and respect them. Not Thrust and Perry them. Guess I'm not much for the animal game, huh? And that's not saying all men are like that, nor all women out to shit on men. It's just the way things have turned out for me. So goes the cards. But I do get lonely. Nature of the beast, I guess. I'm hoping one day to have the fairy tale. You know,  beautiful blond, brunette, redhead, grayhaired (love older women, ok), black haired vixen ready to pounce on my over sexed body, with a white picket fence, lawn, and 3.5 kids. It might be too late for the kids part - too long in the tooth, I think? - but the rest would be ok.
Now, just chime in anytime here, OK. I can take it. (I hope) Just remember, animals have feelings too. And you'd know that if you ever saw a dog cry. Mine does, when I have to leave it with my brother. Sad, I know.
Pathetic, really. Dog, not me.
And now for the Rest of the Story . . . . Next part?. . . . .

Hi,
I don't know what I'm doing, I'm going to learn along the way, and If anyone has any ideas, opinions or advice, please don't hesitate to blast me with it, OK? So here we go . . . .

My name is Roger Decker, I'm 45 years old, and I live in a small town in Oklahoma. I've been in the same place for the past 11 years. Although I've lived in Oklahoma since I was nine. My family ended up here because of a tragedy in our family. About four years after my father died in a truck accident, my Grandfather got sick. It wasn't very serious at the time, but, he, in his infinite wisdom, decided that before he died, he would like to go back home. And being the faithful family members that we were (meaning my Mother) we decided it was time to pack the old Dodge Rambler: (Yes, they were an actual car): and go where Grandpa wanted to go. And so to make a long boring story ( the ride ) short, we moved to Oklahoma.

There was more to it of course, but I think you get the picture. Father died in accident: Grandfather got sick and wanted to go home: Dutiful daughter decided to make his wish come true. Daughters Uncle (making him my Great Uncle) came to California to fetch us. Help us move - well, move us actually - you know how it is. Anybody with a story like this, I think knows how that works. Anyway . . .

My Grandfather was sicker than he actually let on, apparently, he lasted no more than 2 years when he had a massive stroke: which left him paralyzed on one side of his body, and unable to talk. After that he didn't last much longer. Two years after that he passed away. So he got his wish: he came home to die. And by good fortune, luck, Karma, or the grace of God, my Grandmother lasted many years longer. Only about 9 years ago she followed my Grandpa.

And we're still here.

That's it for now. We'll talk again later. . . . . .
